Frequently asked questions.
What is your shipping policy? Do you offer international shipping?
Your order will be shipped within one week of ordering. The shop is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged orders on behalf of the USPS.
For international orders, send an email to hello@cascadiarose.com as shipping costs can very wildly.
How much should I take?
Our bodies are unique ecosystems, and I recommend starting slow with dosage and listening to the vast intelligence of your body. You can adjust your dose, as you get to know the tincture that you are working with and how the herb effects you. The goal in working with herbs is to find the minimum effective dose.
If you are sensitive to medications and foods, you may also be sensitive to herbs and it would be wise to begin with smaller doses. Those with strong constitutions may need more frequent or larger doses.
If you are working with an herb(s) for a chronic condition or long term healing, take 1-3 times a day (small doses taken regularly are more effective than one single large dose).
For acute conditions (ex; anxiety, insomnia), take the herb 20-30 minutes before you want to feel the effects, in small doses.
How many servings are in a bottle?
One "dropperful" (one squeeze of the rubber dropper top) amounts to roughly 25-30 drops. One dropperful roughly equals 1 ml. At two dropperfuls (2ml) / serving, a 2oz bottle comes to about 30 servings (roughly one month supply).
What is the shelf life?
Shelf life varies based on the menstruum used.
Tinctures: All tinctures are extracted in organic cane alcohol. Tinctures can last up to three years, although potency will decrease with time.
Tea: Dried herbs can last for a few years, but for maximum potency compost any past one year old.
Salves: All salves are beeswax based and will last up to two years.
Oils: Oils are best used within one year.
Oxymels: Vinegar and honey are both powerful preservatives, however exposure to oxygen can shorten shelf life. Keep in the fridge if not using daily. Expected shelf life around one year.
Elixirs & Syrups: Elixirs are a blend of organic cane alcohol and raw honey, and the shelf life is similar to tinctures, best used within two years for maximum potency. Syrups should be refrigerated if not used within a few months to extend the life and reduce any fermentation that may occur between sugar & water. If fermentation does occur, you can heat the syrups on the stove to kill the wild yeast.
Do you offer custom formulations?
Custom formulations are available when working together one-on-one. If you’re interested, send an email to hello@cascadiarose.com.
Do you use essential oils in your products?
Essential oils only include one part of a plant: the fragrant, volatile oils. There is a misconception that essential oils have the same properties as tinctures, decoctions, or herbal infused oils that is incorrect. Essential oils can be very harmful if not used properly.
Beyond their volatility, essential oils are responsible for a huge amount of medicinal waste. It takes gallons of fresh plant matter to make less than 10ml of essential oils, and in that mass consumer process, the ‘essential waters’ or hydrosols are usually discarded.
Rather than participate in what is a rather harmful industry; absolutes, enfleurage, hydrosols or the whole plants themselves are used when adding scents to product. Occasionally home distilled essential oils are used as they are produced in integrity.
How do I become a retailer?
If you’re interested in becoming a stockist, fill out the wholesale application.
Due to the small batch nature of some medicine, not all products are available for wholesale. We will send a complete list with wholesale pricing after connecting. A minimum order of 3 different products and $200 is required for an opening order. There is no minimum for reorders.
