Our lymph are the rivers of our body. When there is stagnation, or a dam in the river, it affects every other ecosystem in our body. All of life depends on this cyclical, uninterrupted flow, and lymphatic congestion is often the first or root cause of larger imbalances that unfold within the body. This formula is to treat that stagnation, whether acute or chronic.
Dosage: Start slow. Take 30 drops 2-3 times per day by mouth or in a splash of water.
Red Root //
“Red Root is one of our great unsung plant medicines.” – Michael Moore
Red Root’s spicy crimson roots are the most powerful ally in moving stagnation in chronic conditions. Indications are pale tongue, fatigue, swollen glands, feelings of coldness/heavyness, sluggish digestion and skin outbreaks, headaches, etc. Red Root is able to reduce inflammation, tighten boggy tissues, and move “sticky” blood. Red Root is warming energetically, making it a great companion for traditional bitter allies like Oregon Grape or Cleavers when treating chronic cold conditions.
(Red root is contraindicated for those with blood clotting disorders or who are on anticoagulant medication.)
Cleavers //
Cleavers is a sweet and gentle lymph tonic that cools and cleans the entire system. Breaks up lymphatic congestion and cleans the blood. They’re also a diuretic and demulcent with an affinity for the urinary tract. They help replenish minerals and balance fluids.
Ocotillo //
Ocotillo grows far from my bioregion but my relationship with them spans many years and their ability to move fluid and stagnation, specifically pelvic stagnation, is unique. Indicated for any type of lymphatic/blood stagnation or clogged up liver Qi but especially indicated for pelvic pain that manifests as fibroids, endometriosis, heavy clotting, slow to start menses, or prostrate issues. Useful in acute situations and also in formula for chronic conditions.
You can read more about lymph here. This formula pairs well with Snakeskin for treating stagnant liver qi.
